Kumeshnee West is the Director of Executive Education at the GSB where she leads her passionate team to deliver excellence to clients attending short courses and customised courses. She works closely with clients, alumni, faculty and the Business Development team, to develop relevant management and leadership courses that respond to the emerging needs of today’s leaders, which are both locally and internationally focussed. Her excellent client management skills have lead the department to retain 75% of return business year on year for the past 6 years.
Kumeshnee holds an MBA from UCT Graduate School of Business and is passionate about playing a role in ensuring that the GSB continues to deliver excellence to all its stakeholders. She is involved in several projects in the school and also plays a mentorship role to the student led Women in Business Committee.
On completion of her BSc. Occupational Therapy degree, Kumeshnee worked for 7 years as an Occupational Therapist in the areas of Neurology and Orthopeadics at various hospitals in Kwazulu-Natal and the Western Cape. In addition, she worked in training and development for a natural medicine company for 2 years and spent a year working as an independent consultant in the areas of leadership development, change management and education.
It is under her leadership that in 2019 the GSB was awarded Gold Award by the European Foundation for Management Development, for a Customised programme that was developed in partnership with Standard Bank. This is a first for an African Business School. It is also under her leadership the UCT GSB continues to be ranked in the Top FT100 Executive Education Rankings (currently ranking at #51 in teh world).
In August 2019, was elected as a Women of Power by Carducci SA for her passion with purpose in advancing the vision of Leaders across teh continent. She is a novice cyclist and completed her first Cape Town cycle Tour in 2019. She sees herself as a catalyst for good in the spaces that she occupies.
