Calling all entrepreneurs in BioSciences

The Africa Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF) is hosting the fourth cohort of FemBioBiz, sponsored by NEPAD-SANBio.

NEPAD-SANBio responds to two priority areas of the Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy for Africa 2024, which is a 10-year strategy that is part of the long-term African Union (AU) Agenda 2063, namely to eradicate hunger and ensure food and nutrition security and to prevent and control diseases and ensure well-being. The strategy envisages the accelerated transition of largely commodity-based African economies to innovation-led, knowledge-based economies. Such economies are underpinned by robust science, technology and innovation.

The FemBioBiz programme is designed to contribute to the support of (young) entrepreneurial women in the bioscience industry through the support of in-country incubators that drives for a more inclusive entrepreneurship ecosystem in the SADC-region.

Additionally, the programme creates a network of talented women bio-entrepreneurs with access to knowledge, markets and finance.

FemBioBiz Season 4 focuses on training for resilience and imparting skills and knowledge to enterprises, academics, students, government and civil society on how to use technology to support their enterprises for scale and impact. It aims to provide training to women-led enterprises on how to reach new markets using digital platforms.

Other activities will include masterclasses, coaching and mentoring.
