The Africa Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF) is holding workshops for women in the Agribusiness sector in Botswana next week, as part of the #VALUE4HER partnership with the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Co-operation (CTA).
AWIEF is currently the Implementing Partner (Southern Africa) for the project #VALUE4HER: Strengthening Women’s Agribusiness Enterprises in ACP, in partnership with CTA. CTA is a joint international institution of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States and the European Union (EU); operating under the framework of the Cotonou Agreement and is funded by the EU.
#VALUE4HER is a continental initiative aimed at increasing incomes for women from agribusinesses, through: access to markets; improving knowledge; building management and leadership capacity; and advocacy, thus addressing some of the key barriers for women’s empowerment in agriculture.
AWIEF is running the #VALUE4HER training workshop in Financial Management: Measuring and Growing Business Performance, in partnership with Botswana Innovation Hub (BIH) on 25 and 26 February 2019, in Gaborone, Botswana.
Twenty-five female agripreneurs were selected from the following Southern African countries: Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, to attend the two-day workshop focusing on improving financial and business leadership skills.
The workshop will help them to understand the importance of financial value in their businesses and improve confidence when applying for investment.
“AWIEF is looking forward to working with women from agricultural businesses in the bulking, processing, production and marketing sectors to help them grow and scale their businesses,” said AWIEF Founder and CEO, Irene Ochem.
