AfDB’s AFAWA – Affirmative Finance Action for Women in Africa – To Showcase at AWIEF 2016

Access to finance is widely cited as one of the major factors impeding the growth of women-owned businesses in Africa.
The gender gap in financial resources for small and growing businesses led by women is established at USD40 Billion. Women face particular challenges and are considered less attractive clients for business financing for reasons related to culture, collateral, inexperience and capacity.
Banking and financial institutions may also lack the knowledge to offer products tailored to women’s preferences and constraints.

The African Development Bank (AfDB) joins AWIEF to address the challenges and to economically empower African women entrepreneurs and innovators in its commitment to advance the Gender Equality Agenda, with particular reference to access to finance.

ARE YOU AN AFRICAN FEMALE ENTREPRENEUR OR BUSINESS LEADER? OR ARE YOU A BANKING/FINANCIAL INSTITUTION?
Find out from a dedicated AfDB High-Level Panel Event at AWIEF 2016 how you can tap into the unprecedented and unrivaled opportunities, and how you can benefit from the USD300-million AFAWA fund, a major AfDB women’s economic empowerment facility specifically designed and set to boost women owned/led SMEs and MSMEs at all levels (including grassroots) on the African continent.
