Irene Ochem is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Africa Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF). She leads the strategic management of AWIEF and its external relations and oversees the implementation of all its activities and programmes. Irene’s passion for female innovation, technology and entrepreneurship coupled to her strong belief that Africa’s transformation is possible and can be achieved through enhanced economic empowerment, participation and leadership for its women and girls led her to found AWIEF in 2014.

AWIEF is a not-for-profit economic empowerment organisation for all African women and girls. AWIEF connects emerging with established women entrepreneurs and works to equip young and next generation female entrepreneurs with the tools to succeed. They provide valuable business capacity development and skills support programmes, resources and connections. They also facilitate and support Africa women-owned and women-led business start-ups, growth and scaling-up.
